Many of our readers have asked us if we’ve come across a Chinese eatery we could recommend. In traveling south on Rt. 13 from Salisbury, there is a quaint town by the name of Princess Anne, Maryland. It’s the county seat of Somerset County and the population in the 2010 census was around 3300. The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is located there and Princess Anne’s history is most interesting.

When we arrived at Lynn’s Kitchen Gourmet, we were warmly greeted by Jimmy, and promptly seated. We noticed the cleanliness and simplicity of the dining area and began looking over the menu.  Jimmy answered several questions we had regarding his eatery and was very friendly. He said his wife Lynn was really more talkative and she would be out to converse with us shortly. Lynn and Jimmy had a dream to own a small restaurant and a few years ago settled in Crisfield, Maryland at the City Dock. In 2011 they decided to move the restaurant to Princess Anne.

Jimmy’s experience in the restaurant business began in his teen years. His culinary palette and skills have allowed him to create 30 homemade sauces.  They specialize in Hunan, Szechuan and Peking Cuisine. Hot and Spicy can be altered to your taste. Very important to know, there is absolutely no MSG used at this eatery and the sodium is at a minimum to allow the unique Chinese flavors and textures to be experienced . My fellow Dining Diva enjoyed General Tso’s Chicken and an Egg Roll with dipping sauces for the appetizer. I relished the Chicken Cashew with Brown Sauce and Wonton Soup for the appetizer. As a side note, both the Wonton Soup and the Egg Roll were made with chicken, which I really appreciated. They offer other appetizers made with pork, beef and seafood. Both of us commented on the freshness and great flavors in our chosen dishes. The prices are extremely reasonable.
Lynns-2While in Princess Anne you might want to go uptown (just around the corner) and do some shopping and admire the historical architecture in the commercial buildings and beautiful old homes. Great antique and gift shops line the streets and there is a cute, unique shop named the Barefoot Baby Boutique.
